5 Most Valuable & Best Ken Griffey Jr. Cards Ever 💎⚾️

By Slaughterking187

There’s never been a baseball player with a higher approval rating than Ken Griffey Jr. Fans who grew up watching him know why he’s so easy to love — the perfect swing, the backward cap, and even Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball for Super Nintendo.

“The Kid” ruled the 1990s. He made baseball cool, playing with effortless flair and clean dominance in one of the sport’s dirtiest decades. Though injuries after his trade to Cincinnati in 2000 slowed him down, Griffey still finished with 630 home runs, 10 Gold Gloves, 13 All-Star selections, and 7 Silver Sluggers — all without scandal.

Today, Griffey’s legacy remains red-hot in the hobby, with his rarest cards selling for staggering sums. Here are five of the most valuable Ken Griffey Jr. cards ever sold.

🟢

#1 — 1998 Fleer Showcase Essential Credentials “Now” (/10)

💰 Price: $280,600 (sold May 17, 2025)

The crown jewel of Griffey’s card catalog. This stunning green, jersey color–matched design features just 10 copies worldwide. The Essential Credentials line is hobby royalty, and this PSA 9 is the highest graded copy in existence.

🟡

#2 — 1999 Upper Deck “A Piece of the Action 3” Patch Auto (/24)

💰 Price: $84,000 (sold October 21, 2022)

Among the first-ever game-used patch + autograph cards, this piece changed collecting forever. With only 24 made, this BGS 8.5 stands as the highest-graded copy of the greatest Griffey patch auto in existence.

🔴

#3 — 1998 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems (/50)

💰 Price: $72,500 (sold September 15, 2023)

PMG cards are the pinnacle of ‘90s hobby prestige. Griffey’s 1998 version — limited to just 50 — features a foil-metal finish prone to chipping, making high grades ultra-rare. Only six PSA 8s exist, with just one PSA 9 above them.

#4 — 1997 Pinnacle Certified “Mirror Gold Team” (/25)

💰 Price: $65,322 (sold September 26, 2021)

These ultra-scarce “Mirror Gold” parallels appeared in just 1 of every 36,000 packs. With a revolutionary reflective design, they represent early innovation that paved the way for modern card finishes.

🟣

#5 — 1999 Fleer Showcase Essential Credentials “Now” (/17)

💰 Price: $63,000 (sold September 26, 2025)

A 1990s insert masterpiece. The Essential Credentials line used a unique numbering concept where Griffey’s base card number (17) determined the print run — only 17 copies exist. Its foil finish and design perfection make it a must-have among high-end collectors.

Why Griffey Cards Still Matter

Griffey did what few ever could — he kept baseball pure while making it cool. His cards bridge nostalgia and artistry, standing as testaments to one of the game’s most beloved legends.
